Frequently asked questions
General questions about working with SGTS, and starter questions for each service.
General
Which areas does SGTS cover?
SGTS is based in Chinhat, Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, and accepts survey requirements across India. Mobilisation and logistics are confirmed for each project.
How do I get a quotation?
Use the Request a Quote form or the detailed Request a Survey form. Quotations are prepared after reviewing your scope, site conditions and deliverables, so they reflect the actual work involved.
What information should I provide with a request?
The survey purpose, site location, approximate extent, required deliverables, timeline and any existing drawings, site plans or scope documents. Attachments help us understand the requirement accurately.
Do you guarantee a specific accuracy?
Achievable accuracy depends on the method, equipment, control, site conditions and agreed tolerances. Accuracy requirements are agreed in the scope and checks are documented with the deliverables.
Can I contact you on WhatsApp?
Yes. The WhatsApp button opens a chat with our team number. Messages are read and answered by our team; there is no automated messaging.
Will my submitted documents be kept private?
Attachments are stored privately and are only accessible to authorised SGTS staff for the purpose of reviewing your request. See our Privacy Policy for details.
Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) Survey
Can GPR guarantee that all buried services will be found?
No. Detection depends on soil and material properties such as conductivity, moisture and clay content, target size and contrast, and equipment configuration. GPR should be combined with records and verification.
DGPS Survey
What is a DGPS survey used for?
A DGPS survey determines accurate coordinates for selected points using satellite observations corrected against a reference station. It is typically used for project control, alignments, coordinate transfer and ground control for mapping.
Does DGPS work everywhere on a site?
No. Receivers need a clear view of the sky. Under dense tree cover, beside tall buildings or indoors, points are usually coordinated with a total station connected to GNSS control.
Total Station Survey
When should I choose a total station survey?
When you need individually observed, traceable points: control networks, detailed features near structures, setting-out of design positions, or level transfer.
Topographical Survey
Is a topographical survey the same as a boundary survey?
No. A topographical survey records physical features and levels. Legal boundary or cadastral work depends on documentary evidence, authorisation and an agreed scope.
LiDAR Survey
What products can be derived from LiDAR data?
Typical products include classified point clouds, Digital Terrain Models, Digital Surface Models, contours, sections and extracted features, depending on the capture method and agreed scope.
GIS Survey and Mapping
Which coordinate system will my GIS data use?
The coordinate reference system is agreed before work begins, for example WGS 84 or an appropriate UTM zone such as 44N for much of Uttar Pradesh, or a client standard.
